iPhoto 5 has killed my library six or seven times since I first installed it a week ago. I'm thankful that I had the foresight to back up my images, but I'm completely over it. I'd like to switch to iView, but given iPhoto's bizarre directory and database structure, I'm not sure how to go about moving everything from one application to the other.

What is the most efficient way for a user to switch from iPhoto to iView? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

Why would you use iView and not just folders? If you use Photoshop CS, just use the file browser like I do.

i use iphoto at home and iView at work. Not much of a learning curve to be honest. We enjoy the functionality of the cataloging at work and actually archive all of our files there. iPhoto has nice tools for home use. Not sure why it has destroyed your library. Something else must be wrong- mine is still intact from 2 years on...

I agree with KeriVit: something else must be wrong. Run DiskWarrior or TechTool a.s.a.p.

I switched to iview years ago out of frustration with iPhoto. Primarily iPhotos annoying "keep 10 copies of the original" "feature". Also, I like how it supports more than just photos.
