I've been designing prints to use on clothes and normally I just make them in Photoshop and save as EPS which works fine most of the time. However, the new print shop wants me to send an .ai file. So, I've imported the graphics, and then thought I'd lay out the texts in Illustrator and then save it as an .ai file.

I found the effect > warp menu and tried, but when I select View > Outline the text "snaps" back to normal, disregarding my warp. Anyone know how I get around this? All I want is that the warped text in Illustrator remains warped so I can create outlines of it and save as an .ai file..

Thanks.

Which Illustrator are you running. I had a similar problem myself and found the answer here at the boards with some good help. After you warp an image in illustrator and want to create outlines, you would first select the type (not highlight) and then go to Object->Expand and it should create the outlines your looking for.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
