hi all,
question of the day. i am using Illustrator 9's Pantone 804C. i am trying to convert it to CMYK and it gives me: 2.75C, 39.22M, 79.22Y, 0.39K. do i round these up or down to get rid of the decimals?

Unless you're sending the file to be printed by SuperPrinters Inc™, you can use C:5, M:40, Y:80, ditch the black.

Also, beware, the CMYK values Illustrator gives you for spot colours depends on your colour settings and profiles.

siMac said it the way I would do it. Also try to find out what the minimum percentage the printing press can hold before sending it out. I know for flexo printing here at where I work we could only hold 4%.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

And that'll be 12% by the time it's printed. Ah, good ol' flexo...

iChelle, on second thoughts, after looking at Pantone 804, I'd say ditch the cyan too. And don't expect the colour to be very close either.

That's my point - you don't. Very few printers are that accurate, you can usually expect fluctuations of up to 5% on press, and then there's dot gain, paper absorbency, finish...
