Hello,
I am considering buying the Epson 2200 and am using OS 10.3.7. I've read reviews and many of them say that this printer doesn't work that well with OS X (especially borderless printing). Does anyone use it and what's your experience? I would like make sure that it works before I spend the $$.
Thanks!!!

Although I haven't really had a use for borderless printing, the quality of this printer is absolutely great.
The number of ink cartridges really balances color and allows bright colors to really shine. You may only kick yourself when you keep replacing the 'light cyan', 'light magenta' and the other light colors more often that you thought you should.
It produces great output though and for what we need it does a great job.
Anyone chime in on the borderless printing? I've also not used the roll-paper feed mechanism which could be nice if you want to try a fair-sized poster output.
Please follow up if you hear more about the borderless printing elsewhere.

I also have a problem with my current Stylus Photo 820 refarding the borderless printing (which DOES work on system 9 though). So I wrote an e-mail to Epson help and below is the reply I got regarding 820 and 2200. Haven't tried it yet:
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
The 2200 is fully OS X/10.3.7 compatible - please ignore those complaints
that are posted on the web.
To set up your printer for borderless printing in OS X.3 please follow the
steps below.
After you have installed your printer driver for OS 10.3, you will need to
do the following to add extra paper features such as borderless printing
options:
1. Go to Printer Setup Utility (found in HD > Applications > Utilities).
Delete any existing references to the Epson printer from the list.
2. Go to Add. Select Epson USB for a USB printer or Epson Firewire for a
Firewire-connected printer.
3. Highlight the printer name when it appears under Product. Under "Page
setup" use the up-down arrows and select ALL.
4. Click Add. The new printer options will now be added to the Printer
list; you will see the printer name numerous times with different paper
selections attached. (If you are unable to see the full description you
will need to extend the name category.)
5. Highlight the printer name/feature which you wish to use (For example,
"Stylus Photo 2200 (Sheet feeder-Borderless)") and make it the default.
Close Printer Setup Utility.
6. Ensure Classic is not running. Open an OS X application and the file you
wish to print.
Setting up borderless prints in an OS X application (NOTE: not all
applications will show these options)
1. Click on FILE and PAGE SETUP. Ensure the settings below are adjusted:
SETTINGS: PAGE ATTRIBUTES
FORMAT FOR: EPSON STYLUS XXX XXX(BORDERLESS)
PAPER SIZE: Whichever compatible paper size you wish to use
(NOTE: borderless printing is not supported on custom paper sizes.)
Click OK when done.
2. Click on FILE and PRINT. Ensure the settings below are adjusted:
PRINTER: Stylus XXX XXX(BORDERLESS)
PRESETS: STANDARD
Make any other adjustments needed (on COPIES and PAGES, PRINT SETTINGS,
etc) and then click PRINT.

Noticed on another post that the r1800 *could* be the replacement for the 2200.
You might want to look into it before you bite.
Haven't looked into it, just thought it might mention it.

I cannot speak to borderless printing but I can vouch for the quality of the 2200.
It's fast, reliable and it does an amazing job – much better than the predecessors.
As mentioned earlier, you do have to replace ink cartridges more frequently than I might have thought but the print quality is worth it.
I should add that most every professional photographer I know has one of these. They use them to print their portfolios, proofs for color-matching for digital files and for promos.
It's an expensive printer but it's worth every Pesco.
Would love to hear about experience people have had with the roll paper feed. I've only used sheet feed thus far.

I too can vouch for the quality of image....
However, Rendezvous printing is broken for the 2200, but printer sharing works.

I've been looking for info on the r1800. Somewhere it said it should be in the US in March. It's supposed to do the same and more as the 2200 but will sell for $150 less - I wonder what's the catch. I think I'll wait a little till there will be some users' reviews available.
