If anyone out there is looking to buy a great digital camera I would suggest the Nikon D70.
I was looking to get a higher end consumer / professional grade digital camera and asked a number of commercial photographers for suggestions. Two pointed me toward the Cannon 20D and the rest all sent me to the Nikon D70.
I researched online and at brick and mortar stores. The consensus was that the Nikon was a better buy and a better all around camera. It's less expensive and it can use most any Nikon lens – even those going back 30 years*. That was particularly attractive to me since I want to buy a lot of different glass.
Evidently Cannon has not made their camera bodies as compatable with their lens family.
Also, Nikon has a $200 rebate going for the D70 lens kit. That's the camera body with a 18-70mm lens.
Thought I'd share a good buy on a dynamite camera.
* While you can use most any Nikon lens they will not all work perfectly with the chipset. So you must accept slight limitations on lenses not specifically built for this camera.
