Which app comes close to MacDraw? I am not looking at Illustrator (too big, too complex), but just a drawing app with which I can draw some simple 2D things like how to replace things in the living room f.i.
Thanks.

Not exactly what you're looking for but Gimp is a free Photoshop-like application that could be used to do the job. Of course you'll need to install Fink and become acquainted with the Unix side of OS X if you're not already.
See it here:

I think the OP was looking for a vector program. The closest thing to MacDraw is probably EazyDraw. Not free, but a great little app for the price.
Edit: There's also MS Expression, which is surprisingly non-sucky.

I believe you're right. That's why I called it out as 'not exactly what you're looking for.'
The price hit the request on the head so I figured it was a viable option regardless.

try this:
http://www.eazydraw.com/
naturally, I'd recommend Illustrator, but I understand your dilemma...
Be careful if you want to get stuff printed though- make sure it can export to a decent format.

Thanks. It's called Expression, btw.
And it's from Micro$oft...
But anyway, it's free.
