Just recently (like, two weeks ago) I became interested in the field of "environmental graphics" for festivals, conventions, events, etc. (e.g. a standard logo for banners, posters, souvenirs, merchandise, shopping bags, etc. as well as "wayfinding" icons and logo derivatives for decoration). I bought one book, Festival Graphics by Gail Finke (and you'll see I wrote one of the reviews on Amazon), but I was wondering if the vast pool of knowledge that is this forum could perhaps point me in the direction of other resources. As mentioned in my Amazon review, I'm having difficulty finding other books on this topic -- or else I'm not using the right search terms in our local library's database.

I'm not exactly planning to quit my day job and launch into a career in event planning, but I would like to perhaps dabble in it with some smaller local events in which I am already involved in other capacities. It seems research shows that good environmental graphics can not only draw more attention and make annual events more memorable and hence successful, but also increase the popularity of already-successful events. Hence, I'd like to look more into this concept and how it works so that I might apply my own design skills to said local events. It seems too often we end up running around at the last minute to throw together cheap handwritten posterboard signs that say "line starts here" or printing them on letter size paper from Word when we could have nice, professional-looking, weather-resistant signs to reuse each year. But then if we're going to go to the trouble of making reusable signs, they should also incorporate a graphical theme that's consistent for all areas of the event.

Thanks in advance!
