Hiya,

My family has thousands of photographs sitting in boxes that are just too much to go through. I'd love to scan them all so that I can create an online photo album. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this though, so I need some suggestions! I'm curious about photograph vs negative printing, and I'm also interested in what the best relatively affordable scanners are for the job.

I've seen a scanner with a tray that will scan a stack of photographs. I've also seen ones that will scan negatives. Which gives the best results? Which is the fastest?

I also saw a scanner that will scan "rolls". Does this mean I can pop in an undeveloped roll of film and it will scan the whole thing? Doesn't film have to be treated or something before it's developed?

Anyways, I don't really know what I'm doing here, so any suggestions would be excellent!

Thanks in advance,
Justin

There are batch scanners that will handle 35MM slides and film. Recent reviews on popular scanners can be found at: http://www.macworld.com/2003/05/revi...nnerscompared/

Film needs to be processed before scanning. Scanners do not develop film. "Rolls" refers to uncut film.
