Like most of you guys, I spend most of my day in Photoshop, happily using a piece of software that now seems like second nature after many years of use.

But nothing is ever-perfect, and recently, I've started thinking of what I'd love to see added in the next version...
  • Spotlight: Especially in the Layers and Actions palettes. I tend to name most of my layers, and I'd personally find it easier to type in the name of the layer I want instead of having to scroll. Scrolling is okay if there are only a few layers, but if there are 200 layers? Ach!
  • AutoSave: AutoSaving at user-specified intervals (so you don't start pulling your hair out when PS rarely crashes).
  • ImageReady Integration: I like ImageReady a lot, but I hate having to switch between two applications, especially when ImageReady could so easily be part of Photoshop.
  • New Icons: I mean, ruh-eally. I'd be more than happy to re-design them for Adobe for free!

So that's what I'd like, and I think it's all pretty simple stuff. How about you guys?

Ok. I'll jump in.

1. lower price
2. eliminate authentication (like that will ever happen)
3. what you said about imageready integration
4. yes -- new icons
5. spotlight would be nice for layers
6. multi-dimensional palettes: palette could be rotated (horizontally, vertically, both, whatever) to display more palettes or details concerning current palette. Kind of like user switching in the OS.
7. Illustrator integration: why not. PS already knows how to handle vectors anyway.
8. lower price
9. more natural painting capabilities like Corel Painter

Guess that's it for now.

1. Non destructive adjustment layers for Filters.
2. More Layer Adjustment options (like luma and alpha)
-Also there are some bugs with the current pass-through settings.. fix them
3. Blending Mode KnockOuts need to be more advanced than just Deep and Shallow
4. Auto Spot Color Layer would be nice
5. Auto Encore button option (maybe i'm layz but setting them up with layer names is a pain)
6. Make pen tool EXACTLY like illustrator's. (it's currently different only by a few keys and thats friggin annoying)

god this list could keep me up all night, this is a good start though...

Info on the menu-bar.
At work I use a dual-monitor, (windows/pallets on the second monitor) at home I use a Powerbook. It would be nice to work full-screen on the Powerbook, and still see the Info.

I'll be picking up CS2 this weekend. I'll add my 2¢ after giving it the once over. To be honest, I don't see me needing much more.

One thing I would love to see is better 2 color (black+PMS) duotone controls. I feel like I have to wrestle on occasion to get the duotone to be just the way I want it to be.

UPDATE: CS2 makes me very happy. Looks like they have once again improved upon a great product. I like the idea of Adobe breaking up Photoshop into two programs. One with all the new bells and whistles... and one that just updates the foundation to work on the new OS updates. For those that don't live in Photoshop... the price is a little crazy.

Just my 2¢
