OK
This place I'm freelancing is looking to buy a font family that will work on ALL the Macs... That means one G5 Mac using OSX 10.2.8, one PowerMac G3 using OS 9.1 and lastly, a PowerMac4400/220 using 9.1... they have a few assorted
So should I suggest Open Font, or PostScript for Mac? They may upgrade alla the Macs in a few months (except the OSX 10.2 G5) but I can't trust them to do that...
They are using Cg Novarese for their magazine right now, but get this, the previous art director didn't have a screen version for it, so onscreen the font is bitmapped and it sometimes prints with different line breaks than on the screen!
ANY suggestions?

Postscript is ALWAYS the best option. TrueType would be my second choice (despite how the uninformed masses warn against it, I've yet to have any problems with it since the mid/late 90's).

MacDog's answer IMO was true in the classic Mac OS's but it seems since the move to OSX True Type or Open Type is less problematic. I've seen many T1 fonts not display and/or not rip properly since the update to OSX. That being said if you are buying new fonts I'd go with Opentype as it will work on both Windows and Mac Os's with the exception of QuarkXpress but acording to Quack that will be fixed in version 7.

OpenType format is the Only way to go. Do not get something that's old, and outdated. Seriously if your buying a new font and it's not opentype I don't know why you bother. 1. OpenType formated font will look the same on ALL platforms. If for some reason somebody every, edits any corporated document on a PC, the kerning, and line valuees of the OpenType font will come across exactly the same on all platforms. Opentype fonts corrupt alot less easier and run smoother in any OS.
