I have searched and can't find a definitive answer (that I like)...

In OSX Tiger, is true that one cannot create a Postscript file from the Print Dialog Box w/o using the PDF to Postscript Option?

We have found that we cannot navigate to a folder for that file and cannot name it and cannot find it using the PDF to PS option.

What else is there?

I have done this at home, but as we're stilling running 10.3.9 at work, I can't answer until I get home.

Can you rewrite the pdf to postscript Applescript?

It's located in the Library/Scripts/Printing Scripts folder.

I'm curious as to whether this option embedds all the fonts and other necessitties required by print houses.

If you manage to rewrite it. Please post it here :-)

half of us are on Tiger and the other half are still Pantherbound . . .
the 10.4 users are not experiencing any issues creating PDFs but we use an Acrobat7 - watched folder - workflow. You then have the option to save the .ps after distilling or delete the postscript file.

Quark uses the "JAWS" folder to store the ps files, if you write PDFs directly out of Quark.
Am I at all close to what you are trying to find out? I sense I am not...

On the heels of what was asked. Is there anything wrong with using Tiger to create PDF's from postscript files? I am still using Distiller 5 and I cannot convert postscript files to pdf since upgrading to Tiger. I can double click the postscript file and convert it then, but I am weary about what kind of pdf this will create. Is it something that will work for a press environment?
