Ok...So I've got my new iMac, a copy of Studio MX is on the way and I need a good program for working with images. My brother suggests Photoshop as being the only way to go but at £699, it's a little out of my league. My choices are:

1) To buy an old version of photoshop and upgrade to CS - my concern with this is that it won't run natively in OS X.

2) Photoshop Elements - looks really basic. Can it actually do image creation is it just for re-touching?

3) Any other options?

Gert PhotoShop Elements. It will have everything you will need.

Well, all the advice I've had about web design stuff has come from my brother so I'm not too clued up about Fireworks. It may be if my luck (and bid) holds out that I'll be getting a full version of Photoshop CS1 for the same price as Elements.

Photoshop is my personal weapon of choice, but mainly due to familiarity.

From what I've heard Firework is a pretty good little package, if you're only intending to provide content for the web it should do all you require.

(since you already have it with Studio MX)
