I'm generating some effects and background elements for a flash presentation with After Effects. When I try to import the file into flash it won't recognize the alpha channel, as though it weren't there.

In AfterEffects: the animated graphics are white and the background is set to white also (the alpha channel should mask out the part of the image I dont want) - I can see the alpha is there, no problem. Funny thing about this case is that if I change the background to black Flash recognizes the alpha. Not much help though, as it leaves a nasty grey halo around the contour of the mask (due to transparency in my graphic).

I've gotten it to work once, with the background color set to 254, 254, 254. But it seems to be a fluke as after 6 hours of experimenting with it I still can't get it to work again.

I can't seem to find any documention anywhere about this, on Macromedia or at the codec companies site (On2VP6).

What is up with this? Anyone having a similar issue?
Any and all expertise is appreciated. thanks!

I am running into the same issue with video exported from FCP. My sujects are to be set on a white BG and there is a very bold halo that I cannot get rid of. Did you find anything out?

I don't have any experience with After Effects or Flash 8, but I've used Flash MX. Exporting stills with alpha channels from Photoshop is best in PNG format. Also I find it helps to open the image in the flash library to change its compression settings to PNG.

I don't know if thats helpful or not.

don't know what I'm looking for but found this:
