Hi all.
I am trying to find out what .it extension is and how to open such files. Can anyone enlighten me?
Here is an example of such a file ( beware - 10 megs but fast server):
is2508.zip
Thanks for any help/instructions you can provide.

No google searches have helped me so far. I might not be using the right search strings but for nearly 6 months now I've been searching around, trying to find progs that could open it or whatnot. Finally, I gave up and came here.

Is it maybe an .sit file that someone mislabeled? Try adding an s to the it to spell sit and see if StuffIt Expander opens it. BTW your link is dead or I would have tried it myself.

Nope, I actually tried that to avoid any embarrassing solution such as that
I don't understand why the link doesn't work - the file is there, the url is right. Other files work fine, just not that one. Maybe if I .zip it?
Update: Yup, zippin' it did the trick.

I think someone sent you the wrong file. This is an audio file, VLC opens and attemps to play it although it's only static. BBEdit opens it and I see the name Dio in the header.

for unkown files i always use the terminal, cat filename, that opens it in the terminal as a text doc. You can then look for information if the header is intact.
