I am new to Apple ( bought the new iMac G5 last month) and digital photography. What are the differences between iPhoto and Photoshop Elements?

They are simply different programs. They do converge in a few areas, but the primary focus of iPhoto is image cataloging. Photoshop Elements is a photo manipulation program. iPhoto is an amazing program for the price if you use all or most of the iLife programs.

Perhaps if you wrote what you were looking for, I could better answer your question. There are literally hundreds of differences.

I think you have already answered my question. I love the iPhoto Slide Shows and the way it stores stuff, but I did want to do more with the images.

Many thanks,

iPhoto and Photoshop Elements can be made to work together. iPhoto has a Preference setting that controls what happens when you double-click a photo. One of the options is to set Photoshop Elemetns (or other programs for that matter) to open the picture. This allows you to do whatever editing you want, then save the picture back to the same place, so iPhoto can find it.
