Guys im looking for an image editing software that can help me. I want to be able to merge photos to do banners... add effects to my photos. I'm going to be using it to design images for my websites that I build. You see I just switched to mac and IDK any software for it.

If you want to part with some money get Photoshop. If you want to save saome money get the GIMP.

You could also Photoshop Elements... It has roughly 1/2 the features of Photoshop, but if it has all the features you need, it's perfect... and cheap to boot.

production_coordinator is right, Photoshop Elements is cheaper. If it gives the functionality you want it may be a good choice.
I should also clarify that GIMP is free and, to my knowledge, offers all the functionality of Photoshop.

Ok I Dled GIMP and installed X11 SDK but when ever I open GIMP it says I need X11
|

I DLed it off downloads.com but it's not working I read the Readme and it says to get it off your Mac Install DVD but I can't find it on eaither one of the DVDs.
Can you post a link to the correct X11 I need?

art_director, I wouldn't say GIMP offers all the functionality of Photoshop. Perhaps "a good majority"... as GIMP doesn't have any CMYK support [so forget it for print work], GIMP has limited color matching, limited scripting, etc. etc. Granted, it's not important for the original poster, but I would hate to think that anyone paying for Photoshop is a fool
