Quite a bit of impressive work in these books this time around. I definitely feel that the selection of work is stronger than what was presented in the last few years' annuals. What does everyone else think?

IMHO the design annual is strong but the ad annual isn't so. This year has a full crop of sophmoric BS and plenty of fake ads out of Asia. IOW, same as the past few years.

I agree the design annual is the stronger of the two, but the Ad annual did have its share of clever, well done work. The Nissan pick-up ad on page 19, the Pets Unite ads on 26 & 27, the Altoids ads on 29, and most of the Onion stuff… just to name a few examples.

The Nissan ad is a high point in this below par annual.

Would agree that the Pets Unite is nice stuff.

The Altoids ad is expected. IMO there's so much good work done each year that it's a shame that campaigns like Altoids keep getting in. Been there seen it...

The Onion stuff is funny but, being that it's the Onion, it danm well better be.

We do agree on some of the stuff that was good. I was just happy to see something good in the current ad annual. At least it had something to offer compared to the crap that made it in the year prior. I was as hard pressed finding something even remotely good in Ad Annual 45 as I was finding something bad in Design Annual 46. The current Design Annual is full of really nice work.

nissan ad is good, I also like the time magazine outdoor ad with the swinging pendulum cover (pg 58) between bush and kerry. Its not mindblowing, and very much in line with the rest of their stuff, but I like most of their stuff so whatever. I kind of like the mini stuff on page 11, but again, its just more of the same stuff they've been doing. I think the HP picture book spots were great, but they ran out of gas quickly. The one interactive ad in the whole book was that stupid virgin airlines hair style thing which I thought was overrated. I guess there just isn't much hot interactive advertising being done. eh. but yeah, yall are right. very sub par annual. The mets broken glass/note stuff was neat too, but not "cool".
