I read from time to time that having odd color walls can make the colors you see on your monitor look different. I have blue walls. I have a Spyder Pro coming in next week and since I'm getting bored with my blue walls I figured I would go with a neutral color.

I've read mixed things online. Some say do black, others a %50 gray. Almost all of the things I've read also have to do with shooting in the room but I'm only doing editing and some printing. I'm just a hobbyist photographer; I don't make money off it. What do you guys recommend?

From a color theory standpoint, a 50% gray has the least effect on the perception of other colors.
But who wants gray walls?

Actually I've always liked gray. Right now I have blue, almost the same color as the Apple Menu Apple. I was almost thinking of black for the walls and then matting up my photos on white matte board but I think sitting in black all day long would get me depressed after a while.

Here's what it looks like now. I'm going to laminate the desktop, probably in black but maybe some other texture. Haven't decided that yet.

I painted mine "Bedrock Grey", as close to 50% black as I could find at the paint store.
