I have been devouring this forum for over 2 hours now as a visitor and thought it was time for me to join and ask a question. I have an iMac G4 and am wanting to use it as the tv in my office through my dishnetwork box. Primarily, it will be used for real time viewing, but I like the ability at times to record a show. I have read about the pros and cons of the different options. If I go with the EyeTv 250 or the Plextor, if I am just viewing tv and not recording, will it use up hard drive space while I am viewing or just if I wanted to record?
Thanks for any input.

Me again. I see that I have had lots of views, but no input yet. I have sent an email to Elgato to ask them the same question, and also called and left a message with my local mac store customer service rep.
The reason for my concern is that I don't have a very large hard drive (60 GB) and I am just not understanding the details of how these tv gadgets work when just viewing live tv.
My G4 only has USB 1.1, so I have decided my best option is the EyeTV 200 with the firewire. Just need clarification on the hard drive viewing question.
Thanks for listening.

In EyeTV preferences you set an HD allocation that fills first in first out. This allows you to pause live TV then restart. If you set the HC allocation small then you essentially just limit time you can pause without losing unviewed content. With EyeTV 200, figure 1GB per half hour of content. Of course, you can have it set at lower or even higher quality which alters this data rate accordingly.
