I was wondering if a usb 2.0 drive can be used as a scratch disk. If so would the performance be any better than using the straight boot drive alone? Also..Im new to the mac world. Just bought a Macbook 2ghz and will be adding 2 gigs to it thursday. Whats the proper memory setting for CS2. IE 70% or other. Last thing..will enabling larger tiles be benificial with 2 gigs in CS2? I appreciate the help!

It depends on the other equipment involved, you didn't mention the current speed of your hard drive.

Basically, USB 2.0 is faster than FW400, though FW800 is faster than USB 2.0 and FW400. Though this is just the capability of these types of device. Obviously the speed of the actual hard drive (as obviously you didn't mean a flash USB device as a scratch disk). Yeah anyway, it should be fine.

As to the question regarding the RAM, I would hazard a guess having 2gb of RAM, put the memory setting on 75%. That should be more than enough for most things you'd probably be doing.

I think you need to add "theoretically" in there. While, on-paper, USB2.0 looks to be faster, most real-world test I have seen show FW400 faster than usb2.0. YMMV.
