unless you want to for some other reason, don't bother learning it in quark.

drag quark file onto indesign icon, fix quark quirks in indesign (rules becoming dotted lines, all boxes getting grey outlines. master items in quark become master items in indesign.

So, er, what's your question? If you have to create it from scratch in InDesign, why do you need to know anything about Quark? You asked how to transfer stuff from QXP to ID, then said you're not allowed to... which is it?

No i'm not allowed to open the quark doc in desig...

I have a document in Quark that we need to make in InDesign but they want it redone but basically look the same in InDesign.

Open the Quark document and grab the typographic elements one by one. Then paste them into ID. For the art just draw boxes and re-import. Simple as that.

As A*P said, don't bother learning Quark. Clearly that would be a waste of your time.

How would they know if you re-built from scratch or opened the Quark doc in InDesign and worked from there? Are they standing over your shoulder while you work?
