Help! Need to use Apple DVI HDCinema monitor with VGA input computer. I have a 23 inch Apple flat screen HD Cinema monitor with a DVI output cable only. I purchased a HP Media Center PC, 4G, and made the mistake of assuming it had a DVI input on the video card, as my previous computer, a Sony Vaio did. The HP doesn't have a DVI input on its video card, only analog input. I purchased two converters, one a cable DVI to analog input, and the other a short adapter to convert DVI to analog. Neither worked, when I booted up my computer, the apple monitor stayed dark. What am I doing wrong? Is there something that will convert the signal? If not, can someone recommend a good video card that has digital input for an HP Pavillion Media Center.

There is no really sensible way to convert a VGA (analog) OUTPUT (the computer has a signal OUTput; the monitor has a signal INput) to a DVI (digital) signal.

There are converters such as the Gefen one:

But at $270, I doubt it's really worth it.
