I almost downloaded Pirates of the... just so that I could compare it against the DVD I have, but $9.99 is $9.99. I'm still considering it for this weekend so stay tuned.

I would really like to know what kind of audio it has. Does is really have Dolby Digital or just Dolby Surround, which is a lame 2.1 sound? Could anyone who already bought a movie tell me this?

I bought Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is 1.22 GB. Downloaded in a bit over an hour on my connection. Note that you can move a movie to an external HD or something once you've downloaded it. Personally, it looks beautiful on my PowerBook. Pretty much like a DVD. However, since I tried to watch it while downloading, it slowed down once it was "processing the file" to finish the download. After that is was smooth as butter. ; )
Quicktime seems to tell me that it is a stereo track, but that could be because I don't have any devices that can output surround sound. I'd like to know this too. It sounded darn good on my 2.1 home theater system though.

Quicktime would tell you if it were a Dolby Digital track, even if you hadn't attached any speakers at all!
So it seems like the "Surround sound" is just a plain old Dolby Surround sound with two stereo speakers and one surround speaker, encoded in a stereo track.
Well then.

That's as clearly not surround as it is disappointing.
But well, I might just have had my hopes too high up when I saw this:
