I was roaming around Craig's List & mediabistro, seeking freelance graphic deign work when the following sentence caught my eye:

Must have excellent knowledge of Quark, Photoshop and Illustrator; knowledge of QPS and InDesign is a plus.

OK... so what is QPS? I have seen this in other publishing company ads, whether book or magazine... so what is it? A Google search gave me all kinds of QPS stuff, so I am seeking the definition in this particular context.

Is it easy to learn? SInce I have all the other skills, can I wing it? I'm smart; I can do stuff...

Quark Publishing System: it adds workflow control to Quark xPress basically. If you know workflow, you can probably get by. I'd admit up front that I didn't know it, but if you can show an understanding of how worksflow works generally it shouldn't be that hard to pick up. Try googling with the full name or check Quark's site for further info.
