What's the Mac equivalent of Microsoft Paint?

It used to be MacPaint, but isn't that long gone?

Is it iLife? If so, in the specs I don't see any mention of basic paint functions although maybe it has them.

Obviously I don't have a current Mac or I'd know the answer to this.

Thanks.

I'd think Graphic Converter would do the job. There's also Photoshop Elements or full blown Photoshop.
Lemkesoft - Startseite
Adobe -
Professional photo editing software - the digital imaging software standard by Adobe
Here's a link to a bunch or freeware/shareware apint applications.

I think it would take a lot more work to make a nice image in a simple pixel paint program than it would in the nice tools you can get today. What you're asking for is 1980's graphics technology. Ah, Deluxe Paint on my beloved Amiga 2000... crikey I'm old. :-P

If you'll tell us more about what you're working on, I think you'll get some very good suggestions. Me, I'll just blather on anyway. You need drawing software, and drawing with a mouse is a Bad Thing. Take a look at a Wacom graphics tablet. You can draw with a pressure sensitive pen instead, and software is included.

A quick peek at MacMall – #1 Mac Store, iPod nano, Mac Intel, Mac Computers & LCD TVs finds the Wacom Graphire4 4x5" model for $85, Photoshop Elements 3, Painter Essentials 2 and Color Efex Pro 2 are bundled with it. That's all most people will ever need. Have fun!
