hi guys,

PDF417 font or freeware application (that exports vector) is urgently needed.

tried google, but anything i came across seemed extremely pricey for a small company of 2 to afford.

there appears a dead link in many websites to poorstudent software pdf417 generator, but i was unlucky in locating one.. if someone has got a copy, pls email me to webpost@lycos.co.uk.

Why do you need it to be vector?

This site: Barcode Software - bar code activeX, DLL, SAP R/3 bar coding, ean, upc, code 39, code 128... will generate raster files which if you save to 1bit TIFFs you can colour up in your DTP package.

Otherwise have you tried PDF417Man?

i didn't try pdf417man as the link is broken.. i tried looking for this file in many places and the link was dead everywhere i went.

also thanks for the link, i will definitely try it although the text i am barcoding is massive.

The final size of the barcode shouldn't matter. A PDF417 code is made from a fixed grid of big ol' pixels, so even a 1 bit TIFF can be scaled to infinity.

You definitely should not resample the generated image, it's designed to be 'BAPPI' (Bugger-All Pixels Per Inch).
