I need to put two or four photos on a postcard, and add some text.

The printer wants one file with the whole layout: the four photos, text, everything.

I have never done this. I only know of Quark Xpress, and know it's overkill, price and feature-wise.

Any ideas? Is there freeware or shareware? (I'm on an iMac G5 iSight 2.1ghz).

Important is, that I do NOT want to do it in JPEG, but use Adobe1998 or ProPhoto color space, so the skin tones come out well).

Unfortunately, I do not have Photoshop yet, but Lightroom.

Any suggestions? Advice? Slaps on back or shoulders (not in the face, please)?

Thanks.

Go to the ,www.puremac.com> website. DTP titles are found under Multimedia.

There is a list of Mac Apps with requirements, price & download links.

Check out :
RagTime Solo,
Ready,Set,Go!,
Swift Publisher,
DesktopPublisher Pro,
MLayout.

The DEAL of the century is on the Quark site: Quark is offering full versions of QXP 7 in exchange for only $99.00 and a legal copy of some useless old Adobe software called PageMaker !!

Graphic Converter is shareware and can do what you want. Just build your image and output as a PDF (or whatever other file format you want.
It's not the easiest thing to work with, but the price is right and it's very capable.

Thank you for that list. The Quark deal is really fantastic!

But how can one get hold of PageMaker? Is that still on sale?

"Graphic Converter" looks good.

It's also one of the recommended applications in the sticky list.
