æ (⌥ ')
œ (⌥ q)
π (⌥ p)
• (⌥ 8)
° (⌥ ⇧ 8)
— (⌥ ⇧ -)
≠ (⌥ =)
… (⌥ ;)
‰ (⌥ ⇧ r)

Those all work on the standard US keyboard layout.

Half of the time, I'm using a US Academic layout, though. The following combos will work with that (some might work with US Extended, but I haven't checked that):

ɷ (⌥ p), w
ᴱ (⌥ ⇧ q), e
ʁ (⌥ ⇧ p), 4
ḟ (⌥ ⇧ .), f

Some more using Unicode Hex input:

‱ (⌥ 2031)
⁂ (⌥ 2042)
¼ (⌥ 00bc)
½ (⌥ 00bd)
¾ (⌥ 00be)
܌
(⌥ 070c)
๏ (⌥ 0e4f)
← (⌥ 2190)
↑ (⌥ 2191)
→ (⌥ 2192)
↓ (⌥ 2193)
↵ (⌥ 21b5)
⇞ (⌥ 21de)
⇟ (⌥ 21df)
⇠ (⌥ 21e0)
⇡ (⌥ 21e1)
⇢ (⌥ 21e2)
⇣ (⌥ 21e3)
⇥ (⌥ 21e5)
⇧ (⌥ 21e7)
⇪ (⌥ 21ea)
⌘ (⌥ 2318)
⌥ (⌥ 2325)
⏏ (⌥ 23cf)
(⌥ 262a)
(⌥ 271d)
(⌥ 2721)
✁ (⌥ 2701)
✂ (⌥ 2702)
✃ (⌥ 2703)
⦁ (⌥ 2981)
 (⌥ f803)

This is handy- does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut for making MD, the french version of TM?

Great thread, but you might find this Dashboard widget a tad easier to use than a reference file:

CharacterPal - Widgets - Taco Widgets

Does anyone actually express marque déposée as an ᴹᴰ superscript in the ™ style?
It doesn't seem to appear on the French keyboard layout. I thought people just used ® (⌥ r) or ™ (⌥ 2).

You can get the above superscript with the academic layout I mentioned in the post above by pressing (⌥⇧q), m followed by (⌥⇧q), d, but it's probably easier to just save it as a clipping somewhere and drag‑and‑drop it as required.

I made my own customised keyboard layout ages ago, which I normally use when writing in English. It contains all the symbols I use regularly (including, for example, the complete Pinyin tone character map, as well as just about any other combination of letter + diacritic mark you can think of and some special characters (ð, ø, ß, ɣ, ɯ, etc.).

You can activate a ‘Unicode Hex’ input menu in System Preferences' ‘International’ pane; I tend to switch between standard, academic and that one via the menu bar item whenever I need to.

Sorry about the belated response, I haven't had internet access since Sunday.

Ah, I see—it’s an entire keyboard layout, not a shortcut one can use in any layout. Gotcha.
