How to open a Coreldraw .cdr file?

A client has supplied a CorelDraw .cdr file and I need to bring it into Pages or Indesign.

If I could only get it into an .eps format I could use Preview to convert it to a pdf. All my options so far have failed, including Illustrator CS2 which is supposed to open .cdr files.

Anybody have a solution?

Adobe Illustrator 9.0 or later should open them according to here CDR File Extension - Open .CDR files

When I launch Illustrator CS3 it gives me the option to open CorelDRAW files versions 5 to 10

Same with Illustrator CS2, so I can only presume it is later version (latest CorelDraw is v13) or Adobe speaks with forked tongue.

Can they down save the file in Coreldraw or export it into a different format? I've never used the app so haven't a clue.

You should contact the client and insist he output the file as an .eps for you. Mention something about "industry standards".

I'm curious, though...is CS2 giving you any sort of error message when trying to open the file?
