Logo critique

I just made this logo for my step-mom's barbershop chorus. After she'd mentioned that they liked the idea of an old Pacific or Atlantic cruise liner (think Titanic [and I'd already spent a lot of time on it]) people started going with the whole lion idea. Eventually majority ruled, so they wanted a lion. I thought it was kind of cliche, but oh well.

So I tried to compromise. I went with the lion but I used fonts that looked like it was from the 1950s. I can imagine the logo on the tale fin of an old DC airliner or maybe the bow of a cruise ship.

Any suggestions? Comments?

I looks like it should be used for a Safari park rather than a barbershop chorus. Yes it reminds me of lions, but in the Pacific?

I think the cruise ship option might of been a better idea.

the part of the "mane" on the bottom right of the P bothers me, if those were removed the "of the pacific" could be larger and/or not squished, which also bothers me.

The bottom parts of the ‘mane’ bothers me, too. It looks more like deformed little feet, which just makes the P look like a half-broken chair with a mane.
