I've styled my blockquotes on my blog using a quote marks image. Since I don't do a lot of work with graphics I used a free sample I downloaded until I could create one myself.

Does anyone know of a good tutorial for creating a quote marks graphic, or give me some guidance? I have Fireworks 8.

Thanks!

Pick a font, color, enter your smart quote character, save image...

Ah, the smart quotes. I found them in the special characters panel.

Thanks.

BTW, what's a good file size for quote marks graphics?

The one I created is 27k (saved in PNG 32). The one I replaced (that I downloaded) was 0.3k.

Now, I'm working on bullets.

also, if you want your non-image text quotes to be smart as well (like in your pull quote), look into the ” and “ tags instead of the " tag.

Aye, the 'Fireworks user' I'm quite an experienced user myself.

Trust me, the Special Characters box is helpful for all major special symbols.

But another thing about all Apple iMacs and I believe other versions too have a special characters keyboard. Just hold (alt+any key) it'll pop out a symbol. Like for example (i.e. alt+2= Registered Logo).

Just a little tip about it, hope I helped out too.
