Hi guys
A couple of years ago someone discussed where to find Silicon Graphics font, used in their logo and on their website.

It was available in an installer package called sgifonts.exe, I believe, but no search engine can find it for me.

Can anyone help? Someone in possesion of this font or sgifonts.exe?

Regards, Jerry

Apparently, The SGI font is a custom font and is not available for public use.
Go to: (x) SGI - proprietary face {Stephen} | Typophile

A similar looking font is "Cocaine" can be found at Fonts.com

Go to: Cocaine Font - Fonts.com

The y isn't backwards.

You could grab the flash animation and see if the text is vector, then import it into Illustrator. You could then use Fontographer or FontLab and create your own font.

That's assuming you're not making money off of whatever you're doing, then you'd need to license the font from SGI.

Hi guys,

I managed to find the original font, in an installer package for Windows from SGI. Hint: Google cannot find it. Altavista can!
Lesson: Don't rely on google alone.

Are you sure? I was planning on using it on a single illustration for a commercial project and for a logo...

Kind Regards, Jerry

Ole Pigeon is correct. The SGI font was created for the exclusive use of SGI. If your intent is to use it in a commercial project, you must license its use (if possible. I seriously doubt SGI would allow the use) If discovered, you (and/or your client) could be subject to the sensation of a room-full of lawyers getting medieval on your backsides. Or a fine.

There are plenty of normal fonts out there that are close-enough. I'd settle on an alternative.

Don't do it. A friend of me & myself had contacted with SGI regarding if it was possible to use the SGI font for a SGI related magazine nonetheless. Needless to say they yelled "No Way". Anybody surprise given how expensive the font was haha, jokes aside, don't mess with this kind of issues, it is not worth.
