my boss wants me to take an eps file and make it bigger. Should be no problem. I tried opening it in Illustrator an it look horid, same in InDesign, photoshop wasn't so bad but it all came out pixelated. Simply craptacular. I know vector graphics should be easier to scale with programs that can read the math but it's not turing out that way and i don't know what I'm doing wrong... Help, help...please?

If the file looks horrible in both Illustrator and InDesign, have you checked that the file itself is not flawed/borked?

Are you sure the EPS does not contain bitmaps?

well, the file is fine, the only thing i can think of is that it is at a resolution of 72. but that shouldn't matter should it?

Well yes, if the the EPS file contains a bitamp it will not scale well. You will have to trace it larger by hand.

Clearly, from your description, the file is a bitmap eps (the kind that Photoshop creates, as opposed to a vector-based Illustrator EPS) However, it may be that what you're seeing when you place it in Illustrator and InDesign is the low-rez preview image, and not the full-resolution image itself. Double check what the size and resolution is in Photoshop. Depending on what the final usage is going to be, you might be able to get away with some up-sizing without too much pixelating.
