I have a Wacom Intuos3 9x12 tablet and I'm using it with a Mac 2.8 GHZ Quad Core.
When I trace a design on the tablet its coming out much wider than the original design. I reinstalled the driver and that didn't make a difference. Any suggestions why it would be changing the proportions?

Thanks

What application are you working in? Photoshop? Illustrator? Have you adjusted the line thickness in the application?

I don’t think he’s talking about line width.

The tablet’s preference pane probably is set to some non-proportional setting. Those modes are intended to map the whole drawing area of the tablet to the whole screen, possibly ignoring aspect ratio.

In System Preferences, click on ‘Wacom Tablet’, select the pen tool, and adjust the settings under ‘Mapping’.

Ah, yes. Re-reading the post, I see that now.
I'm not familiar with the software for the Intuos3. I have an Intuos2 and, other than simple Landscape/Portrait selections, there isn't any fine adjustment for mapping.

I’m pretty sure it should have those options. Do you have the latest driver installed? I only have a Graphire, and even that one’s driver has mapping adjustment controls:

The way I see it, if the tablet has a drawing area with a 4:3 aspect ratio, but the user has a widescreen monitor, the Wacom software simply HAS to allow the user to either letterbox his tablet’s active drawing area, or map out a 4:3 target area on the screen. Maybe they’ve buried the adjustment options too deeply, but I cannot believe Wacom would be stupid enough to leave a vital feature like that out of any of its drivers, let alone the ones for the pro tablets.

It should be there.
