I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get one for my Canon SX10 IS. Is the size to attach a monopod or tripod pretty standard on cameras? I don't really know what I need to ensure that the monopod has. I'd like something that is easy and fast to deploy, that I wouldn't have to waste time screwing the camera onto every time I wanted to take a picture - I wouldn't mind if there was a small attachment that stayed on the bottom of the camera during walking in the mountains for example. I'd like to be able to do portrait and landscape shots as well.

This seems quite good. Wouldn't mind some advice.

That's a cool monopod.
I've not seen a monopod with the sort of quick-release mechanism you describe. I doubt you'll find such a connection since the whole point of a monopod is to provide easy portability and instant stability at a second's notice. It's the brace of choice for sports photographers, for instance. They just attach the camera and keep it there throughout the day.

To answer your first question, yes, the screw-mount for tripods and monopods is an industry standard. Even little digital point-and-shoots have the same size mount.

OK cheers Thorzdad. Found this one as well for sale in France. Seem to be the sort of mechanism that I was thinking of - now if only I could test it somewhere.
