I have a PDF that I no longer have the font for, so it won't let me make changes. My friend tried to convert the PDF fonts into outlines so I could make some minor modifications, but this the error he gets:

Error: 20 (unknown error) /usr/apago/src/libs/CPDFLibrary/Sources/CPDFFont.cpp(406) (4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5367)) FT_Load_Glyph failed for glyph index 0
Error: 20 (unknown error) /usr/apago/src/libs/CPDFLibrary/Sources/CPDFFont.cpp(2660) FT_Load_Glyph failed for glyph index 0

This happens to ALL text under the size of 18.5 points. Makes no sense. Anyone have a suggestion?

How is your friend attempting to convert the font to outlines?

A program called PDF Enhancer.

I actually downloaded an open source program called FontForge. It has built into it the ability to extract fonts from PDFs, even subset fonts. So I was able to successfully extract the embedded font and reinstall it so I could make changes.

Made my day.

I still wouldn't mind knowing why that error happened. It occurred to me that I could outline fonts in my PDFs after I've made the PDF, instead of outlining while in Illustrator. This would make it a lot easier and faster to do if I bought that PDF Enhancer program. They even has a Mac version.
