I don't use it myself but I'm trying to plan out what I thought might be a fairly sim0le workflow for a photographer to get lightroom to spit out watermarked images at a certain size ready to upload via ftp to his site.

So far I have discovered that Lightroom does not offer simple ftp upload, it always wants to create a gallery of some sort whereas I just want an image dump into a folder on the server.

Secondly, if I try to export files to a folder on my Mac there's no way of getting them watermarked.

Anyone here fancy some simple step by step advice?

Are you on LR2? In the Export dialog, select Add Copyright Watermark.
