hello all

i'm working with thousands of jpgs as part of my dissertation project and while my current coding method works OK, it is a bit cumbersome and requires too much transcription.

in short, i need a program that allows me to apply tags to jpgs (preferably in specific spots on the image). ideally, i'd like to be able to write my own tags and recall them and generally accumulate data (i.e. so many tags for this sort and so many of this other, etc.).

any ideas? right now i'm working on a PC running XP pro but will gladly buy a Mac if there's an easier way to do this on OSX. thanks

I'm sorry, but I'm not aware of anything (other than flickr) that lets you put tags on specific spots on the image. Perhaps there's a way to use the flickr API in your project?

iphoto, aperture, etc have image tagging of course but I don't know about the specific spots part.

Anyone else who uses aperture or lightroom have any more info?

Use PhotoShop or GIMP or any other layering image application. Keep a tagging picture file on hand, with the tags premade. Then paste that as a layer on top of your target images, and resave.
