Anyone here do character drawings? Could be Marvel comics style, or more traditional (not anime). Plus, if anyone here does that type of artwork, what would be the average fee be to draw up 7 characters from detailed descriptions provided by the client?

Thanks.

Depends on the end use, what form the artwork takes (art on board, or digital), how finished you want the art (simple rough pen lines, or full-on brush linework), etc. etc. And you'll have to define what the difference is between "Marvel comics style" and "more traditional"? "Traditional" is a meaningless term in this case.

Anyway, this seems to imply super-hero illustration, which tends to be pretty detailed work (when done right). Emphasize "right". Again, how "right" your client wants the art, needs to be defined before an accurate quote can be done. Even with detailed descriptions, there's a lot of work involved in doing a super hero right.

At a bare minimum, I'd say $100 each for bargain art. It can go way up from there, depending on the variables and how under-control the client is with their revisions. Of course, you can also probably get some kid in school to do it for burger money because he really likes drawing super heroes.

It'd be used in a sales pitch for a product to a company. Wouldn't need to be larger than 11x17. By traditional I meant paint & canvas, or pen & colored ink, even colored pencil. Doing everything on a computer would be acceptable, and perhaps cheaper.

Thanks for the reply.

Definitely, doing simple sketches and cleaning them up digitally would be cheaper. I can't imagine what paint on canvas for final art would cost. Probably a lot more than you've budgeted.

Would it make any difference if it were 1 portrait with al 7 characters instead of 7 different portraits?

A character is a character. The artist is still drawing seven characters.
