Here's an interesting thing. A little bird told me that Apple has post QuickTime 5.0.1b11 on the Apple Developer Connections site. The link to download does not seem to work, said the little bird.

Actually, the link does work. The little bird told me it is running 5.0.1b11.

Hm... I can't say cause I'm with ADC, but, a friend asked me over the phone to post this because his ISP is currently down:

QuickTime 5.0.1 b18 is the latest at ADC, I think.

MacNN reports:

"QuickTime 5 Public Preview 3, which we earlier noted expires April 15, will continue to function until April 30, a QuickTime engineer has informed us. The license agreement expires on April 15, however."

Looks like QT5 Final is on it's way soon. I'm really bummed that I'll have to buy Pro again - I bought it with QT3 which worked with QT4, so why not QT5? What new features am I paying for?

I'm a beta tester for QT5, and I will say it will be finalized very soon. I could have been long ago IMO but it seems they are waiting for something...perhaps some big news event when other things would be announced?

still waiting......

Apple is either squashing some serious bugs, or adding new features to QT 5 for Mac OS X and Classic to justify charging everyone twice for Pro. What's new in QT 5? - Cubic VR is all I know of.

I'm confused....
Final Cut Pro 2.0 requires QuickTime 5. Final Cut Pro 2.0 does not run on Mac OS X. QuickTime 5 is only final for Mac OS X. WTF?

Thanks to 'mfiske' for the word in another topic- If you run your Mac OS 9.1 QuickTime Updater you will find v 5.1 available for download. If you have QT 4 Pro installed the updater will tell you to buy a new key to enable Pro features in QT5.

As of right now there is no official announcement of this update, and no information about what (if any) new features QT 5 Pro has compared to QT 4 Pro.

Anybody out there running Mac OS X try the X QT5 Updater to see if it's updated as well?

(Edit) - My mistake - version is 5.0.1 - see screenshot

Yup 5.01 is out.

If you have the preview installed, just uninstall it and download and run the QuickTime 4 installer, it will give you QuickTime 5.01.

I've tried running the updater in OSX, but it tells me that "Some necessary information could not be found on the server"

It's been saying that for over a week now anyway.

It appears as though the 5.0.1 update has been pulled as of Monday am.

My Mac OS 9.1 computer with QT4.1.2 reports no update available.

Finally got 5.0.1. Huzzah
Left 4.1.2 on Sunday after going back and forth with no success.
I just ran the updater again and got it.
Dunno about Sorenson, but credits for it run in "About Quicktime".
