I feel its about time for me to convert to OSX, but I want to make sure my scanner works first. I will absolutly NOT boot back and forth from OS9 to OSX. That is an annoyance I won't put up with. So, If my scanner doesn't work then OS9 stays until I have support. I went to EPSON's website and I found the following:
Q: Which EPSON scanners and digital camera products are supported by Mac OS X native mode directly?
A: Currently EPSON scanner and digital camera products are not supported by Mac OS X directly. Drivers are being developed, please check our website for updates. Until drivers are made available, EPSON recommends using Mac OS X Classic mode.
Q: Which EPSON scanner and digital camera products are compatible with Mac OS X Classic mode?
A: The following scanner and digital camera products are supported in Mac OS X Classic mode via USB:
* Perfection 610 - TWAIN L 1.00E
My scanner is the Perfection 610. It says that the scanner will work in OSX Classic but not OSX directly. What exactly is OSX Classic. Is that just what they call booting back and forth from OSX to 9? Please, help ease my confused mind.
Thanks,
-A-

basicly you are running OS 9 in emulation, some apps work in emulation like my scaner, Cannon. Basicly you boot OS 9 in OSX when you need to scan, this proccess is a little slow, booting up, but now with 10.1.3 to me there seems to be little or no differace in speed between me scaning in OSX (9 emulation) or just straight 10. Remeber if you are concerned with speed, more then reliabilty then stay with 9, unless you have a G4 500+ mhz with 256+ ram. Any more questions fire away.
BTW your lucky Cannon says that they will never come out with software that will nativly run in OSX for my scaner.
Also there might be a genaric Scaner driver over at VersionTracker.com

I use Epson's own OS X Scanner driver for my 1240 USB Scanner and it works exactly like the OS 9 scan window. It can be had from their website.
