I'm VERY new to Pagemaker 6.5. I'm trying to get some text to "arch" around the top of a CD lable I'm designing. I can only get it to be in a straight line. I want the whole thing curved into a 180 degree arch if you know what I mean. My book dosent even have Text Wrap in the index!!!

Anyone give me a little hand on this.
thanks for looking

Honestly, I don't think it is a feature that's built-in to Pagemaker. Be aware I've only used Pagemaker to open it up and print to a file when necessary.

What you want to do is fairly simple to do in Adobe Illustrator (an illustration program rather than a typesetting and layout application). In the past this was a difficult task. Since Illustrator came out it was fairly easy (I believe it was in version 3 back in 1990 or so).

Since then, there are other apps that can do this type of 'text following a path' feature. There is a program called Typestyler (sorry don't remember the company currently selling it) that does tons of canned text effects including what you'd like.

Once you create the text in the application that has this feature, you can place it in your Pagemaker document as an image. If anyone can prove me wrong in what Pagemaker can do on its own, please do.

BTW, you can download demo versions of Adobe Illustrator, and Macromedia Freehand and probably Corel Draw to do the text. Typestyler will be the easiest to get what you want without having to learn all about vector graphics (think EPS files).

Good luck. Hey, nice music BTW.

Hey BlueDog,

thanks a lot. I have access to Illustrator so I will try it tomorrow. I just figured pagemaker could do this since it is a "layout" program. Oh well. I have a direction now thanks to you!!

Thanks for the compliment on my CD. I did all the recording and mixing (and percussion too) A lot of it on my iBook.

Note: I avoid PM like the plague

It might be like illustrator, instead of clicking where you want to type (with the text tool) try dragging a box-shape with the text tool. (ie select text tool, click, hold, drag where you want the text) to draw the text on a path make the path and click on the path with the text tool. Adobe touts its interface similarities across its programs so I'll bet its done this way....but then again...
