Can anyone recommend a good, simple photo editing software for OSX? I was using Photodelux in 0S 8.6, liked it fine, but now have a new imac, and would like something comparable in OSX. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Photodeluxe is discontinued and replaced by Adobe with Adobe Elements. It is by far the greatest <$100 photoediting software out there in commercial software. It has 90% of what full photoshop has. Differences are primarily in the advanced scripting and repetitive task areas and with printing specific issues.

For anyone with a digital camera or RGB colorspace files this is a great app. It has the flexibility of Photoshop and is a leap beyond the simple color editors and viewing apps around.

That said, you can get simpler software for less, or shareware/freeware that is admirable. Download the software and try it out. There's a demo of elements from the Adobe website: www.adobe.com

Just so you know some of the alternatives.

<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=9866&db=mac"" TARGET=_blank>TheGIMP</A> - a great freeware app many features of Photoshop (I suggest you look at this if you don't want to spend money).
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=4535&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>TIFFany</A>- haven't tried it, but has a respectable following (Cost variable on its use, ie student and others)
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=11871&db=mac"" TARGET=_blank>Deneba Canvas</A>- I used an older version (8 years ago) and seemed interesting at the time.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=11559&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>GraphicConverter</A>-may not have all the editing features, but its a great product thats regularly updated.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=12031&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>Corel GraphicsSuite</A>-Lots of features and cliparts included, may be best value for cost.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=1043&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>CorelDraw LE</A>-free downloadable version (not as many features or extras as the commercial package.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopel/main.html"" TARGET=_blank>Adobe Elements</A>-great product with transferrable skills and features to professional level product offering of Photoshop.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/main.html"" TARGET=_blank>Adobe Photoshop</A>-seems to be the industry standard with all features needed for graphics of all kinds (web, multimedia, and print)
<A HREF="http://"http://www.adobe.com/products/photodeluxe/version20.html"" TARGET=_blank>Adobe PhotoDeluxe2.0</A>-seems to still be for sale!
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=14133&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>Photostudio</A>-new one to me, read the description... seems fine.
<A HREF="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=2292&db=macos"" TARGET=_blank>Kai's PhotoSoap</A>-has a consumer feel to it, but has some compelling features for those not interested in lots of special effects.

Many of these have OS9 equivalents (not GIMP). Good luck, linking to the product site has more info about each product. I recommend checking out the demo of Elements, the CorelDrawLE and GraphicConverter. If you use OSX, the GIMP may well be all you need.
