Norwegian Art-group, eXPerimental Labs needs a new logo as the P in XP looks a bit comical wedged in the X like that...

Not to be a dick or anything, but aren't you an "art group"? You really shouldn't be soliciting work here (free or not). I understand that design can be challenging at times, but you should work until you are satisfied with your outcome. If not, you should hire somebody to do the work for you. Again, not trying to be a dick, but you should at least do some work, post the work, and at least ask for some opinions. That's how you get better at design.

i don't think he is using this challenge to do wrk for him. I think it is just a logo he has found and thinks we can do a better version.

Actually I'm not asking you to do work for me. I just challenge you to do better... I was asked to do a better logo, and I won't use any of your work. But if you can inspire me, then great
It's just that I want to see how you guys would solve this logo.

It looks like XR, not XP..I'd change that, it's too confusing. Furthermore it's too much a Consultant Agency kind of a logo. The 'art' & 'experimental' are not reflected in the logo.

I thought it was going to be for a new smiley, in which we'd type XP to get it. The eyes would be closed (in an X kinda design) with the tounge sticking out, symbolizing disgust. Kinda like the poison logos you find on chemical bottles.

Agree with the two above posters. I was the one who pointed out the logo erm...sucked
Oh and nice try Ice Enclosure...but it clashes a bit with the rest of the design.
The only thing needed is really the XP itself

Isn't this what all these challenges - and indeed these forums - are all about?

Looking at the site, I think the logo is about right as-is. I was working on one, but then I decided to see what this "experimental lab" was all about.
One problem. I can't read it!
I'm guessing that it is to resemble one of the art sites that it links to and, if that's the case, should have no real difficulty self-generating a logo, or divining spark to re-do the logo it already has.
(BTW: Does anyone have any plans for a Challenge 7? If not, I think I have a hum-dinger..)

Sorry about my original post...I could have sworn that the "challenge" wasn't in the post title when I posted last evening But, I guess that what happens when I've had a few too many pints of the Guinness

Here's my minor make-over of the logo. Of course I expect to be paid handsomely if my design is used

The only thing needed is really the XP itself
This is just a simple redraw of the letters. I believe it simplifies the "XP" to allow for better readability and allows for a better left to right flow.

I think ART JRK put the P back in, good imprrovement.
And justt to show I messed about as well:
It was not put together with the outmost care for detail finishing, but you get the idea.

Actually I think erik's original design isn't too off track. This reminds me of a college project in a letterform & type class I had to take.
This particular project involved the use of positive and negative space in black and white only. So the "X" and the "P" had to sort of compliment each other with one comprisong the black (negative) and the other comprison the white (positive) space of the design.
The trick was we weren't allowed to "outline" the white letter, so it had to be very identifiable without any added embellishments.
If I can find some sort of example(s) of this I'll try to post them. I think I saved some stuff from this project but I'll have to look for them.
Mike
