I'm trying to get an idea of whether or not to upgrade now or wait on some major Graphics App's.
The "big three" include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and QuarkXPress.
I'm truly not looking to get anyone in trouble here, but would like to know what other people may know, or have heard, or read up on.
The only thing I read so far is something about the next version of QuarkXPress coming this fall. But that was only from one source. OSX compatability isn't an issue (at least on my end here).
Thanks in advance for any info.
Mike

I know Adobe illustrator is in beta testing stages and is the first app in their graphics powerhouse suite to be made OSX native (not in the compatibility environ). Their next in order is InDesign, and later (no specified date for photoshop).
I'm guessing the apps will come before the end of the year even though Adobe and Apple's relationship has been strained recently over the incomplete APIs and other issues for assisting in getting their products out
Photoshop will come last, because it doesn't have as much competition. Freehand is already out (hence the need to get illustrator out fast), InDesign has the chance to get the jump on QuarkXPress if it goes native first and proves to be a good alternative for Quark users in OSX.
Although I don't have fast dates, I'd expect Illustrator to come very soon and follow up with InDesign. Then I'd say Quark, and last Photoshop. These are just my predictions.

Yea illustrator 10 should be out soon as it is in beta now. I have played with it at the office but since I'm no Illistrator buff its hard to say how cool it is. 9but the aqua buttons are nice)
I hear Quark 5 should be out by years end (but I've learned to never trust Quark)
As for Photoshop I hear a beta might be coming out soon but done expect final code till early 2002
and as for X comp both Adobe products will be X-ed but Quark will be classic only, they have publicly stated that a X update will be relased after 5.0 classic release but no timetable was given.
If you want to see a partial demo of Quark 5 check out my company's QuickTime clips from our spring event, Seybold Boston:

They also publicly showed a beta version of Quark 5, running happily and carbonized in OS X this macworld in case you didn't noticed. Seemed pretty finished to me, so it might not be that far off. Adobe probably gave them a scare with the carbonization of InDesign.
