What's the name of the "Apple"-font?
The one used in the MacNN-button above,
and on www.apple.com.

Adobe Garamond and/or Garamond Narrow. If it's not exactly that, it's close enough. Try various Garamonds for different results. I think someone mentioned awhile ago that it was actually Apple Garamond. But I don't know what they changed, so the Adobe version is fine for me.

Here's an example. I took part of an apple graphic (from the developer's page). It's the one on top.

the one on the bottom is a pixel for pixel match using:

Garamond Narrow
54 pts.
Crisp Anti-aliasing
-10 tracking

I think I remember using Adobe Garamond for another mockup, but I could be wrong. So just go with garamond narrow.

Uhm... Since nobody actually has a legal copy of the Apple Garamond font, outside of Apple and it's affiliates. I think your safest bet would be: "Apple Garamond, Garamond, Times New Roman, Serif".

You'll be much better off creating gif's of the font (with the proper low color pallette for quick loading (max 8 colors/shades of gray).
