This is completely separate from the MWNY tshirts that will be sold at that event.
This is a tshirt for everybody. Well, anybody that wants clothing emblazoned with MacNN related text/graphics.
Here is the challenge: Design a general macnn tshirt. You don't have to knit the shirt or anything, just devise the color scheme, text, and maybe a graphic to go along with it. Here are your limitations:
- no more than 4 colors used - this means no complex graphics or gradients of any sort. keep it simple. the more colors we use, the more expensive the shirt will be. (the shirt itself does not count as a color..hint hint)
- keep any graphic very simple
- macnn colors are good, but not required
- use your imagination, if you're going to use the macnn logo at the top left of this page, change it around a bit
- design something you'd want to wear yourself. hot pink may be your favorite color, but most people would rather avoid it.
Here are some templates (courtesy of IceEnclosure):
Use these to show us the positioning of your design and the color of your shirt. We'll need to see the actual design much much larger (obviously).
Oh yeah, and for the person whose design gets picked, you'll get a free t-shirt and one of the mods will give you a back massage or something (although that part is not so official).

Ruddigger,
I like the middle one the best, since people don't have to turn your head to read it.

Yeah, but you can't do gradients... I still like the top one the best though, I don't know why, I guess cause it's kinda different...

Can you change it to a solid color?

These are pretty basic, but by the same token, pretty cheap.
DUH.. I didn't read the part about "completely separate from the MWNY shirts".. Had to make a few changes..

That would be cool, but, not really cost effective with a silk screened shirt. Silk screened shirts cost few hundred for the screen, but then they can use the screen to make thousands of shirts. One screen for each of us with our names on it would result in a shirt costing hundreds of dollars.
You can either:
a.) have it airbrushed onto it
b.) buy some of that paper that irons onto shirts and print it out your name...
c.) sew it one yourself...
d.) live with it...
Of course I'm assuming these shirts will be silk screened by the way we have to limit our designs in color...

The way the silk screening place does it is, it costs $20 per color. If you have 4 colors, thats $80. If you would like to pay $5+ more then we could put your name on it, its up to you.

hey, i like the idea of posting the stars! how about this one, ruddiggers solid blue design t-shirt, and somewhere on the shirt, our stars, with our screen name? (i know it's getting very pricey, but i think i would pay to have it done) there is a place in the local mall, that does custom embroidery. i coudl get ruddiggers design, bring the t-shirt to them and have them put the stars on and of course "elite member", and my screen name

idjeff, the blue with the yellow shoulder stripes are extremely swank. My vote is for those! And whatever the design turns out to be, I'd be happy to get one. Email me at robertpalmer@mac.com when you have shirts available to sell!

Hey all you groovy graphic gangsters...
we're dealing with a front, a back, and (if you like) a sleeve...
idjeff, your yellow stripe across the shoulders couldn't be done on the silk screen press, that would have to be a shirt with the yellow stripe sewn into it... like a baseball uniform type o' shirt
so, yea.. try and stick to the middle sections of the front/back, and it'll be easier to work with

Just a quick idea:
Edit: The actual color of the shirt is supposed to be the same on both of the images, not sure why it isn't. If I get a chance, I'll fix it. But until then, imagine it's the same - and imagine it's higher quality.

Rank isn't so good unless you're already Addicted. Otherwise, it will not show the truth after awhile. People seem to get all bent outta shape over their rank, so when they aren't a "Senior" anymore, they will want a new shirt.

Ok here are two I did.
I think it would be cool if we could get t-shirts with are name on them (I know I would pay extra with my name on it).
And here is another.
What do you think?

PBD, looks cool, but I think it's more of a focus on the actual MacNN, then just the forums..
and as far as havin' your name on it, once the shirts are done and such, just head over to the mall (smile at a girl) and have them put yer name somewhere on the shirt, say on the sleeve or sumpin' like that..
cause names for everyone (even just one person) would not be cost effective

Well, they should have at least one shirt for the forums.
I'd pay extra for my name on it.

Thanks for the comments on the Silter shirt.
For the record, it's an Australian Silky Terrier. From a "Breed Association" I saw the picture they had of one (which is the one you see) and it was named "silter.jpg" and the name "Silter" has just stuck.
PBDude, you should try to mess with the logo a bit, rather than a simple copy and paste (look who's talking, I know).

And, being the typical latecomer ... here's my entry. I made the first one for the "cost" issue -- it's only one color (white). B and C are two-color (white and yellow). The elements from each are interchangeable, of course -- in case you want the quote and the magnifying glass on the same shirt.

Here's a slight revision to my earlier idea ... it's so the handle of the magnifying glass doesn't get lost in your pants if you tuck in the shirt.

MrTomServo, I played around with the big magnification glass myself but couldn't get it to work as well as you did. Nice job.
I like the catch phrase "all your 'whatever' belong to us", but perhaps you should use "all your news are belong to us" or "all your posts and news are belong to us". I don't know, it's not my gig, but I thought that these tshirts were about MacNN and not its forums. Just a thought.
Anyway, I do like the mag glass shirt.

hey tom'getyerswerveon'servo... those are pretty nice man.. i actually likee the first one with just the white text most prolly.. but the second is nice too... the third is bout hard to print cause of the wrapped image around the shirt...
anyhow, i don't think we have to limit it to the 'dark bondi' background, so if you think it looks greaat with another color, that'd be cool to see.. my earlier post was a red shirt, i happen t o think red is really nice .. or yellow, or somethin'.. maybe i'm all about bright, but who knows..
nice stuff tho
