Hello everybody, I don't know if it's the right place to post a question like that... but...
Well, I have a G4 400 448RAM and some of my flash work shows up too slow on the screen, like, jumping and stuff... the movement is not nice... I thought my machine was strong enought to handle this kind of work... by the way, the Flash movies are not very heavy, let's say, some word zooming and moving around... any ideas?

I have the same setup as you I haven't had any flash slowdown problems. It might be your frame rates. Check out my portfolio website with html and flash.

you didn't specify if this was from within flash, netscape, IE, or something else.

does it use a lot of opacity changes? mp3s? how much ram you giving your apps?

this has always been a problem, but it's getting worst at each version. the mac version of the flash player (plug-in and the player) is TOTAL CRAP. it's 3 times slower than than the pc version. it's very frustrating and makes me want to buy a freakin pc just for my flash development.

after emails sent to macromedia and apple the problem is still there. how hard is it to optimize a 400k plug-in????? damn, we all saw what apple have done in 5 months with 10.1, don't tell me macromedia can't do it on a 400k player godamnit!

if you have access to a pc, check your flash project on it, you will be surprised on how good the player is on pc (or how bad it is on mac). i have a G4 450 DP and a 450mhz celeron is faster playing flash.

if someone from apple or macromedia reads this, PLEASE do something.

Ok, the problem is there doesn't matter how much RAM the app is using. And it happens with the player and the plugin on iCab (on OS 9) and MSIE (on OSX)... and yes, I have some opacity changes going on... I just checked the website of our friend G4 man and it has the same problems... when the windows are opening, the movement is sloppy...

Hi all, well the only thing I can think of is maybe your internet speed? What type of connection do you have? If you have a dsl/cable or higher, my site or anyone else's site with flash would run smoothly. If you have a 56k or slower connection, of course flash is going to be really choppy and slow moving. Hope you have luck.

Flash has always had issues on macs. The plug in sucks, and it doesn't even think about using altivec. You'd be lucky to get like 8 fps within a semi complex Flash movie. Either deal with it, simplify it or preview on a pc

Lots of opacity changes and multiple tweened objects will cause the movie to look choppy. You can still do greate flash design within these confines.
