I just picked up a Sony MiniDV camera with still picture storage on a memory stick for my girlfriend. Of course there is no mention of the Mac anywhere in the box. I figure I will pick up a memory stick drive or a floppy adapter (do they work in USB drives) but was hoping someone could suggest a good software program that will show thumbnails of all the photos. I know that digital cameras typically ship with something like this. Any suggestions? Thx.

GraphicConverter is great ... works with our camera's files (Ricoh). Since it's shareware, you could try it out first.

(There's an OS X version as well.)

good question!

graphic converter's nice-

as for image management, diiva, typically associated w/ usenet, makes an interesting alternative for image management on the local drive. (it creates a folder 'diiva archive' which can be filled with folders which contain image files- whose folder's image content can be previewed @ a glance more legibly than thumbnails, e.g. like 1in x 2in). an interesting way to manage images in & of itself- w/o even taking online to usenet!

on the commercial side of things- nothing beats cumulus [except it's price ;-) ]!

hope this helps

bon chance,

Photoshop Elements has a nice built-in browser feature that shows thumbnails, which you can instantly open for editing. At $100 (only $70 upgrade), it's a bargain if you also want to do photo retouching.
