Hi, Hopefully someone can help with a problem I am having concerning Tiff (or EPS if possible) previews. I work in the pre-press department of a printing company and we have a client who is VERY picky on cropping and picture placement. They send the jobs in with low res pictures in place and have us scan the original photos on our drum scanner and place our scans in EXACTLY the same spot with the EXACT same cropping they have the low res pics at. When I saw exact i mean exact. These people don't give us any slack. The problem I am having is that when I place our new scans into InDesign (unfortunatly for me, the customer's program of choice) I see a big pixelated blob that hardly resembles the real picture or the customers low res file. You can see how this makes it very difficult to match things up exactly. In fact, it is almost immpossible.
Is there any way to make the preview that I am seeing in InDesign look like a recognizable photo and not a blob of pixels?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-A-

With a little searching I figured out how to get the high res previews in both InDesign and Pagemaker. In InDesign, when you place a picture make sure the "Show Import Options" checkbox is checked in the "Place" popup menu. A new popup will then appear where you can make the resolution of the preview anything you want.
Pagemaker is a little different. Under the "File">"Preferences popup, check the "High Resolution" box under "Graphics Display"
I havn't figured out how to get high res previews in Quark yet, though.
Hopefully this helps anyone having the same problem. If anyone knows how to get this to work in Quark that may be helpful in the future.

Enhance Preview XT 2.1.4

I think it costs $100, there is a 15 day demo and I think there might be a light version that only previews the current selection.
